As part of the BEST (Better Efficiency for Industrial Sewage Treatment) project, on June 12-13, 2018, Gdańsk will host an international seminar with workshops on the recovery of phosphorus. The legal situation will be presented in various EU countries, trends and technologies, practices and possibilities of P recovery by EU experts. Phosphorus is an essential nutrient and widely used in the agricultural sector. On the one hand, the production prices of phosphate fertilizers have an upward trend, and on the other, the load of nutrients (including phosphorus) in sewage flowing by rivers to the Baltic Sea is very high. This makes the situation where the Baltic Sea is one of the most threatened by eutrophication of water reservoirs in Europe. At the same time, the regulations regarding the quality of discharged wastewater are tightened.

The above problems arouse great interest, and the implementation of phosphorus recovery techniques can be an innovative element of investment in the environment.
